Export Import Code (IEC) registration is mandatory for businesses in India engaged in import or export activities. This unique 10-digit code is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It's essential for customs clearance and international trade transactions. Here's an overview of the Export Import Code number registration service:

Export Import Code (IEC) Registration Process:
  1. Eligibility Check:

    • Ensure that the business meets the eligibility criteria for obtaining an IEC, such as having a valid PAN card and being registered with the relevant authorities.
  2. Preparation of Documents:

    • Gather necessary documents, including PAN card, address proof, bank certificate, and business entity proof (e.g., GST registration certificate, partnership deed, memorandum of association).
  3. Online Application Submission:

    • Fill out the IEC application form online on the DGFT website or through the online portal of the concerned regional authority.
    • Upload scanned copies of the required documents and pay the application fee.
  4. Application Processing:

    • The regional authority reviews the application and verifies the submitted documents.
    • If any discrepancies are found, the applicant may be asked to provide additional information or rectify errors.
  5. Issuance of IEC Number:

    • Upon successful verification, the regional authority issues the IEC number.
    • The IEC number is sent to the applicant via email or made available for download on the DGFT portal.
Documents Required for IEC Registration:
  • PAN Card: Copy of the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card of the applicant.
  • Address Proof: Copy of any valid document indicating the address of the applicant entity (e.g., Aadhar card, voter ID, passport, utility bill).
  • Bank Certificate: A letter from the bank confirming the applicant's bank account details.
  • Business Entity Proof: Depending on the type of entity, documents such as the GST registration certificate, partnership deed, memorandum of association, etc., may be required.
